B-Side: Nine Inch Nails Revisited

May 15, 2020

In this throwback to our first season, we explore three new releases by NIN.  Your co-hosts of Pod Like a Hole give Watchmen Vol. 3, Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: The Locusts the analysis they deserve.  In addition, we dive in to a review of Volume 1 of (previous guest and NIN-affiliate) Rob Sheridan's comic book series "High Level." What do we think of these new releases?  How do they rate with the other Ghosts albums?  How do these albums pair with COVID lockdowns?   Will Steve show up this time?  You shall have all these answers, and more!

A Space Poddity 20 : Tonight

May 2, 2020

In this episode of Pod Like A Hole, your hosts throw on boardshorts, unbutton a tee and sip a couple bottles of Red Stripe.  It's an island type of party as we dissect, analyze and generally sift through the history and each track of David Bowie's 1984 album Tonight.  With the help of Tina Turner, UB40 and the calypso rhythm of a rogue marimba player, we give our final word on this album.  If you follow us on the socials let us know what you think.

A Space Poddity 19 : Aladdin Sane

April 24, 2020

In this episode, we discuss the 1973 album, Aladdin Sane. Is there more to this album than just it's iconic album cover? Does Marc prefer listening to Disney's Aladdin soundtrack over this? Will Eric find a way to make a theory about aliens and the intersecting boundaries of capitalism? Does Steve nail a Mick Ronson guitar solo by vocal impressions alone? Did Mike Garson finally get the cat off his piano? All these burning questions will be answered and more.

Hijack Hijinx : David Bowie and the Metal Gear Solid Connection

April 18, 2020

Metal Gear?

As he is wont to do once per season, Steve has hi-jacked the show again. Last season it was Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy, this season it's Metal Gear. But at least he has a point this time: the Metal Gear game series has many ties to the David Bowie universe. From in game plot points, to Hideo Kojimi's very Bowie-esque approach to his art. Please join Steve and returning guest Joe Vierra as they give an overview on the series, how it ties to David Bowie and other pop culture, and it caps with a top 5 metal gear moments.

See you soon for Aladdin Sane.

April 10, 2020

This B-Side brings you another episode where a David Bowie produced Iggy Pop record is discussed. In 1973, just a few months ahead of the release of Bowie's Aladdin Sane, came the album by Iggy and The Stooges, Raw Power. This album has been cited as being one of the most influential punk records of all-time, so let's see if the hosts agree.

A Space Poddity 18 : The Man Who Sold the World

April 3, 2020

Your hosts come face to face with The Man Who Sold the World in another exciting chapter of A Space Poddity. We dissect David Bowie's third studio album released in 1970 by a track by track discussion and explore Bowie's hard rock wizard sound that lays the foundation he'll later build the house that Ziggy Stardust lives in. Of course, we discuss the resurgance of the title song made famous by Nirvana's unplugged cover.

So check in with all the madmen as we measure the width of a circle and compute the facts of the supermen into the saviour machine. After all, no need to get the running gun blues through the black country rocky terrain otherwise you could get shaken cold by the man who sold the world.
