Season Two Finale - Part 1 of 2: Top Ten David Bowie Albums
Saturday Sep 05, 2020
Saturday Sep 05, 2020
In the first of two wrap up episodes, the Pod Like a Hosts countdown and compare their ranking of all the David Bowie albums with a focus on the top ten. Followed by a brief essay question segment that Steve forced Eric and Marc to participate in. We considered dropping this as one giant 4 hour episode but why not milk the podcast feed a bit more and take another few weeks off. Saying goodbye is hard to do after all, as Marc will discuss with the audience when he has a moment during Blackstar.
If you're scrubbing to the end to see what season 3 is going to be all about, you're out of luck. We aren't going to share that info until next week in part two of the Finale - The Top Ten David Bowie Songs.
Thank you for listening.

For this little morsel, Steve and Eric interview Professor Glenn Hendler, author of the newest release in the 33 1/3 book series. This scholar's take on "Diamond Dogs" expands some minds and certainly adds to our previous dissection of the album. Listen, enjoy and buy his book! It's great!

In this final episode of album analysis in the David Bowie cycle, we go out with a truly classic album, 1977's "Heroes." Marc, Steve, and Eric discuss if this album is the crown jewel of the Berlin trilogy, whether the avalanche of cover versions of the title track is worth sifting through, and if there's a hidden gem often overlooked found on this iconic record.

In 1977, David Bowie and Iggy Pop could not stop releasing amazing music. Though this season of Pod Like a Hole has been focused on Bowie’s albums, it has become clear that his work producing Iggy Pop’s records is a critical part of this conversation. 1977’s “Lust for Life” is no exception. Follow your Bowie Boys as we discuss this piece of work, and its connections to “Trainspotting”, ocean liner cruises and Bowie’s “Tonight”. Also, Marc admits to a serious crime on this episode. He’s currently on the lam and we miss him dearly.

A Space Poddity 26: hours....

Are your eyes feeling heavy? Are your pjs nice and warm? Do you have a half-sipped mug of Sleepytime Tea? Are you sliding in and out of consciousness? You might be listening to David Bowie’s 1999 sleeper “hours…” …or you might have just had a NOMAD soul jump to and from your body. Mr. Bowie and loyal axeman Reeves Gabrels followed up their genre stretching , and rather well regarded, mid-90s work with music and performances in the adventure game: OMIKRON: The Nomad Soul, as well as on an album honoring the sleepiness of getting old.
BUT NEVER FEAR: Steven, Marc and Eric are three nomad souls jumping into the sleepy bodies of “hours” listeners and giving them a shot of adrenaline as we hilariously dissect this album, analyze each track and consider how it fits into his 90s work as well as sets up his next millennium of output.
